Project Title: Wild-type P53 is a tumour suppressor protein, however mutated P53 can promote metastasis and chemoresistance in tumour cells. Increased levels of metals within the body can cause P53 to misfold and act like the mutated protein, resulting in lower survival rates and increased levels of chemoresistance.

This project aims to quantify the effects of several metals found in cigarettes, e-cigarettes and air pollution on lung and oesophageal cancer cells and develop a sensor to identify intracellular metal aggregations.
